Van der Valk Hotel Mechelen

Hotel and Staff were great. But when trying to make a party During Corona it should be organised much better as the restrictions put in place by the organising company were way too much and guests were treated like festival ravers and not like hotel guests were privacy was not respected and weird characters with no credentials knocking on my room door at 4:30 am while sleeping accusing me of doing drugs and stop it out of no where. So was a good concept but very poorly executed Thanks to Elke our floor host for being very hospitable and for the reception team.

It seems to be not bad hotel in a nice quiet spot not far from the city center, but I am not satisfied. Rooms are spacy, shower is good, water there immediately goes into canalisation, good airconditioner. But. Service is not effective. I made a phone call the reception and asked for iron - they answered that they will bring it to me in 5 min. I waited 25 min and eventually went to the wedding party of my friends in unironed dress. Matresses are toooo soft to fall asleep. There are 2 layers of mattresses and when I removed the upper layer I discovered a big dry brown spot on it... Hope it is just coffee... What a nice cleaning service is there. The cover of mattress is removable and suitable for washing, but who cares there... Breakfast.18 euro per person. They serve salmon, pate, carpaccio with nuts, expensive sorts of cheese and even macaroons... Yes, all this luxury staff may be worth the money paid... But. Do you really need all of this for your breakfast? There is a McDonalds 50 meters away from the hotel, I would advise to have breakfast there, it is at least 2 times cheaper. We had a room with windows going not to the patio (that rooms are with balconies). And we had just a very small window, which was impossible to open. Yes, air conditioning system worked very good, but still, I prefer to live with windows opened. So, think twice before booking there.

New hotel in town but unfortunately now space to park your car for free! The other thinghs are in line with what you expect from a four star hotel.

Nice staff and good food, but the room was very noisy (loud air condition even when turned off, annoying fountain from the pool and music from the corridor, which you could hear in the room, all by the same time..).

Rooms are so-so, nothing fancy, but acceptable. The worst thing is that it is absolutely nightmare to find a parking lot and it is crazy that a hotel of this size doesn't have own guests only dedicated parking. The breakfast service is the worst I have ever experienced, actually so poor that I decided to change the hotel. One would have imagined that the staff would recognise guests who have stayed more than two months in a same hotel.

Had dinner only in the hotel but great experience. Friendly staff, good food, fast service. Hotel is beautifully built around former municipal pool. Extraordinary architectural setting.

I was there for brunch. And I didn't regret. Huge choice in cold and warm dishes. All very nicely presented in a self service system. I can't say anything about price quality balance as I was invited, but quality was excellent. Very friendly staff as well.
