Wonderful antipasti with shrimps (!) and cawlyflowers, perfectly prepared main course with belgian blue, and nice dessert with ice cream, strawberries and pepper. Great staff and exceptional toilet fascilities. Good wine recommendations. In the upper range of belgian restaurants when it comes to price, but not extreme at all. Besides: Quality costs a little. When the meal gets rounded off with a nice cup of robusta (!) coffee, its nothing else one can do but give them five stars. Great place!
C	C N on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love this restaurant. Their dry-aged beef is nothing short of stunning, both in selection and preparation. These people know beef. The sides and other dishes are also wonderful; the shrimp croquettes, carpaccio, sweetbread, fries, sauces, veggie sides are all great. The staff is friendly, and will crack little jokes if you're that kind of table. I've gone four or five times over the years, and haven't had a single negative experience. It's just out-of-this-world delicious. Juicy, salty, umami, tender, caramelized. Go here if you love beef. I normally prefer my beef bleu/rare, but their bleu is too bleu for me. I prefer it one step more done when I come here. Subscribe to their newsletter to be invited to their special events. We attended an outdoors BBQ this way, that featured a marrow flavoured burger I'm still thinking about.

We went back now, two years later and it is still the best place in Gent for a good high quality beef and more! Very good wines too. We surely come back on our next trip to Gent!

If your heart is set on having a steak, you can choose from a variety of beef from all over the world. The wine menu also has a never ending list. Basically it's worth the price, I just wished they would give more value (quantity wise) for money.

If you are in Ghent and are in search for a delicious dinner, I would really recommend Gillis. They also have a fine selection of wines!
V	VMZ on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We reserved a table at Gillis for New Year's eve. We ordered the Chateaubriand. No complaints about the food, the beef was excellent and perfectly cooked. It was served with a salad and pomme frites. My complaint with Gillis is the staff. They are inattentive. We wanted to order a second bottle of wine but they ignored our table and the table next to us. I eventually went to the serving area to order a bottle. We ordered au poivre sauce which they did not bring. Each time I had to go to the counter to ask for the sauces. The table next to us also same experience. It appears that they were more interested in serving the larger table than any couples there. This is a shame really as the food is good at Gillis. Inattentive service did not ruin our New Year's Eve celebrations, it was more of an annoyance by owners who either don't care about their customers or are resting on their laurels.
