About Le Petit Palais
Old brothel turned into crazy restaurant. Food not amazing (pepper sauce too spicy) but you'll dance all night. Funny owner with Belgian accent may end up slapping your ass (gotta be open minded).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small café but fantastic owner and generous food. The café is well hidden in a small alley, and is a lucky find.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I keep coming back to this place every time I am in Brussels, and I have always eaten great food and experienced great, informal hospitality. This is as good as it gets, for me. No bells and whistles, no pretension, but extreme focus on quality. Please visit Le Petit Palais, but don't come back so often that they don't have room for me :-)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Where to begin... This is a typically surreal Belgian restaurant. The owner is the most outgoing person I've ever encountered. With the strong Brussels accent and the huge smiles coupled with sassy jokes. Don't go there if you are introvert. Food is OK, but clearly the atmosphere is why you would go there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place feels like a hidden gem. Almost couldn't figure out how to get in.. it's a push not a pull door with no sign on the actual door :-P I went for lunch and the place was pretty full. (I'm guessing all locals which is an even better sign) They have Wi-Fi so was using that to translate the menu, but went with the owners suggestion, Beef tar tar. Was sooo tasty. And the perfect portion. It would be great if the owner could make even one menu in English for us non-native speakers. (Terrible I know we're in your country) He does speak English and very approachable person.
If you're in the area I would suggest giving it a go. I look forward to going back and trying something else. The place smells like "home" and the prices are reasonable for the quality and size.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great authentic Belgian place. Food was really good and there's quite the nice atmosphere (and unique decor) with an owner that is quite the character and adds to the charm.
Great desert too (Dame Blanche)!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very simple place with decent selection of Belgian dishes. The owner was friendly, but the dishes were not up to the expectations. We went to try the carbonnade, but they don't prepare carbonnade on hot days (fair enough, but we were a bit disappointed). I had the pain de viande with stoemp: the stoemp was a too liquid, it took too long to get it and it was probably reheated in the microwave. Other people at the table got the shrimp-filled tomato (tasted funny), cheese croquettes (average) and the mixed salad (a mix of green leaves and other cold ingredients with hot grilled vegetables, probably frozen). It took a lot to get all the food and the owner didn't wear a mask for the whole service (mandatory in July when we were there). In general, bad atmosphere all around. Definitely won't go back and won't recommend, there is better food elsewhere.
