Holiday Inn Brussels - Schuman, an IHG Hotel - Rue Breydel 20/24

Small but as pictured room (no more to the room than what you see in those pictures), we chose a room with balcony enjoyed the fresh air and availability to step outside without heading down through the hotel, I think there are three of these rooms and both of the others had two chairs and a table outside we only had one. Not a big deal or something we noticed until we were going to both sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee which thankfully, we brought coffee with us note “tea and coffee making facilities” means a hot water pot and cups available no coffee or tea packets were included. Bathroom was spacious in size but not inside the tub/shower area because of the shower curtain. The curtain was too short to hang one part of it outside of the tub and one inside as intended and while inside the shower the area was cramped, so that you were standing at one end of the shower and fighting the curtain while washing your hair under the shower head. There was great water pressure. Pet policy on website says none allowed. Our room had a previous furry visitor no doubt, we notified staff upon checkout as we found a large amount of fur on the bed skirt and all along the edge and under the bed the morning after our arrival. As animal lovers we understand hair is hard to remove but not off of a non-carpeted floor or an easily removable bed skirt where we are assured rooms are thoroughly cleaned during times like these!! Called front desk asking where the ice machine was located as it is mentioned on the site in amenities, we were told there was no ice machine. Again, not a deal breaker but another detail added where I felt that the attention to details were lacking. Staff member at checking was as expected at a Holiday Inn hotel, friendly and happy to help even once there was a line for the next customer. Check out lady was also nice and noted that the room cleanliness would be noted for the pet hair situation. Staff other times/days were sitting in lounge area and seemed less happy to be bothered, not the norm expectation for Holiday Inn! Affordable and secure parking garage was a great find, there weren't many spots so let them know you’re coming just in case! Games for the park and a small ‘honor’ bar in front desk area for after hours bottle of water, soda or beer. Close to metro station and off the main town squares is a bonus in our opinion, there is a great square with famous fries about 10 min walk away.

The best thing about this hotel was the staff. I had a few requests and questions that were handled with patience and kindness. The room itself was also comfortable and clean. The proximity to the Schuman metro/bus stop was helpful, and there is a nice square with restaurants within a reasonable walk. Special shoutout to Jose Noqueira who helped me upon arrival and made me feel very welcome despite my confusion over a few things. I expect to be back in Brussels in a few months and will book this hotel again. My one complaint is with the wifi. It's weak and unreliable.

I had a really great stay at this Hotel for Business and Leisure The Staff were just exceptional, really. Nothing was too much trouble at all. The Breakfast was superbbb, always fresh and a good variety of healthy food, hot and cold. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone.......

We have stayed 7 nights and we have fully enjoyed everything. The hotel is near the metro station Schuman (4 min), near the European Comission. 4 stations until Brussel Central. Supermarkets Carrefour and Mega Image- 2 min. Our room was big, clean. Everything smelled nice. The towells were changed every day. The walls are soundproof. You can pay only by card, due to Covid. All the guys from reception speak English, French. Compliments to the manager, Dominique! He is really, really nice and helpful. They can also help you printing(tickets, etc). Easy check-in and check-out. Due to Covid, there are separate ways to get in and get out. The breakfast was really nice, but it was not so much diversity: eggs, ham, sausages, cheese, vegetables, beens, yogourt, juice, seeds, waffles, fruits, etc. It was more than enough:) There was also a microwave oven, in case you need it.

Overall, this was a great pick for a hotel. The staff were wonderful and my room was comfortable and clean. The only negative - and I read this in other reviews so knew to expect it - was the lack of good wifi. It barely exists. Just be warned if you don't have a good cell plan for Europe, you can't rely on wifi here. But if you have questions or needs from staff or just want a comfortable bed to sleep in, you'll find that here.

I cannot fault anything in the great service and friendliness that I received from Gian Marco on the front desk - and equally, the chat with the GM, Dominique, upon my check out. Gian Marco is one of the nicest and most hospitable persons I have come across working on hotel front desks, and I stay a lot in Brussels, so this definitely says something. I know from Dominique that Gian Marco is moving on to another career, so I wish him all the best, but he really made my stay so nice, comfortable and relaxing. Thank you.

As a member of IHG we stay in Holiday Inn hotels very often. Compering to other hotels this hotel is standing out with the staff. Super friendly, kind, helpful, professional staff, creating a happy and welcoming atmosphere. They speak English Dutch and French fluently and give good attention to the guests. The breakfast is delicious, among everything, fresh vafels were baked for us. The hotel has great location, close to public transport, the rooms are big, clean with comfortable beds. Only small minus point are the bathrooms which look a bit dated, but they are distant and clean. Our stay was great and we are looking forward coming again. Recommended!
