★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It used to be a popular pub, open to everyone and most importantly serving anyone wishing to have a drink. But the new management came up with the brilliant idea of serving only people that have a seat on a busy Saturday evening (around 10pm?). And most shockingly they new manager proved to be arrogant and came up with the clever suggestion 'that we shouldn't go to bars in large groups on Saturdays' (we were 15, celebrating a birthday and most of us were sitting as we had 3 tables for ourselves for the records). I'm sad to see that such an institution is now managed in such a poorly and unfriendly way. I know that we won't be going back for a while.
Ps: check out the way this guy is replying to negative comments to have an idea of the kind of person (to be polite) you will have to deal with..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Too bussy on saturday nigths, I wait A LOOOT for a beer that came in this glass... so if I would asked the waitress to change it, I would probably drink a warm beer... they took even more time with the food. It is nice, but it is not efficient.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came early, before the kitchen was open, and asked for Americain, the owner gave us a special treat and prepared the dish before he even opened the kitchen. The dish was super fresh and delicious! Thanks so much. Great food great service!

If you crave for a beer in the heart of the Saint Gilles’s movida, L’Unione is an unmissable classic. Don’t expect anything special though: small tables inside and outside, good beers, no table service, not much finder food to accompany it.
Pretty basic.. but still a classic :)
