Gemütliche Gaststätte. Leider gerade vor der eine Baustelle. Man sitzt trotzdem auch draussen angenehm.
Cozy restaurant. Unfortunately just in front of a construction site. You can still sit comfortably outside.

Ypres Market Square, Grote Markt in Dutch, is a beautiful esplanade in the city center. It is surrounded by historic buildings that tower over the terraces of cafes, gift shops, fountains and Saturday market stalls. Although a large part of the square was destroyed during the First World War, great efforts have been made to restore the buildings to their original splendor. You can see the combination of medieval and Renaissance styles that characterizes the historic architecture of Flanders. In the square you will see some of these old buildings. Afterwards, there is nothing better than having a drink in the Tres Tabernas, located in the northwest corner of the square. The history of these three buildings dates back to the 17th century. Nearby is the Cloth Hall, a commercial space for the exchange of cloth and wool very important during the Middle Ages. The interior of this building houses the museum "On the Flanders Fields", which describes the history of the First World War in the region. There are numerous places to eat or just have a drink. Definitely one of the most beautiful squares in the Flemish Region.

When you visit Flanders Fields Museum, you can for a small extra fee climb the tower. This gives you a great 360 view of Ypres and its surroundings. Keep in mind it's a lot of stairs to climb. Funny things is that if you wait you can see the bells ring and you can hear them too.
