★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are quite a few statues and busts of historic figures scattered around Bruges, including this bust of former Mayor of Bruges and Belgium Politician Frank Van Acker (1929-92).
The bronze bust is the work of Belgian sculptor Fernand Vanderplanke and is nicely situated in front of the attractive Groenerei canal. The bust is of a middle-aged Van Acker with glasses. It sits atop of simple pedestal. The marker on the pedestal is undated so not sure when his monument was erected.
