This crossing must absolutely remain for pedestrians and cyclists. The way to quickly get from Denderbelle in the direction of Oudegem, Mespelare and beyond.

Difficult to hoist your electric bike on the bridge. A way to explore the beautiful region towards Dendermonde.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Je kan hier met de fiets of te voet de Dender oversteken. Aan de linkeroever verbindt het jaagpad Dendermonde met Aalst. In Aalst kan je het jaagpad verder volgen tot Ninove en nog verder. Minder geweten is dat je vanuit het sas in Denderbelle te voet de rechteroever kan volgen tot in Aalst. Dit deel wordt beheerd door Natuurpunt en ze doen dit prima.
You can cross the Dender here by bike or on foot. On the left bank, the towpath connects Dendermonde with Aalst. In Aalst you can follow the towpath until Ninove and further. Less well known is that from the lock in Denderbelle you can follow the right bank on foot to Aalst. This part is managed by Natuurpunt and they do a great job.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very good stopping place with the bike or on a walk when it's not raining. There are 2 well kept picknick tables with a very nice view on the sluice. There is also a bench 50 ft upstream. When you cross the river to the other side (from Belle) you will find a 3d picknick table some 100 yards upstream.
Loved to see the sluice being operated.
When have bad weather you can find 3 bars close to the chuch of Denderbelle (some 300 yards away).
