β β β β β If this is your 'maiden voyage' to this type of museum you won't be disappointed. This museum about the red star line and the their boat trips around the world brings you stories, testimonies and art about these interesting and often dangerous voyages.
The touch screens can be operated with disinfected touch pens, given to you at the entrance. This guarantees a pleasant visit, even during these strange times.
There are also lockers available, but because of the covid crisis the cafetaria is not open.

β β β β β This was such a well done museum! It was amazing to see how the process was especially when I had seen the Ellis Island museum before this. Allow 1-2 hours depending on how much you like reading and listening to the stories of immigrants coming to US. Highly recommend.

β β β β β Lovely museum about migration through the ages with a focus on migration between Antwerp and the new world, facilitated by the red star line. The museum follows a chronograph time line and zooms on on the journey and experience of a.few migrants.

β β β β β One of the best museums in Antwerp. Very well presented - the history of immigration, the stories of the travellers, their adventures and dreams. I've been there with my kids and they learned a lot.

β β β β β Very good museum, it's my fourth time I see it. Don't miss the terrace, you can see the giant dock cranes from above. No need to book in advance, I just bought the ticket at the entrance.

β β β β β Great museum and very informative. Itβs a shame that this historical building was basically stripped down and modernized on the interior. I suggest adding replicas of things that existed there before, especially on the first floor where it goes through the history of immigration. Seems like a filler room like they didnβt know what to do with the space. Also it was kind of sad seeing the pictures of the hallway leading to the medical examination room, and comparing to how it is now, blocked up with walls for the exhibit. It would be better to try and be historically accurate to the layout of the building, instead of closing rooms off. Also would have been cool if instead of drawing lines on the ground, they had rebuilt the shower and changing room areas for people to see, and maybe add cool information inside the stalls. Also, at the end of the exhibit, it would be cool to have an interactive experience where you can look up a family memberβs name that you know immigrated to North America, and see if their name shows up on any former passenger lists. I assume these names are on file somewhere? Washington DC does something similar where you can look up relatives that fought in WW2. Really added to the experience.
