β β β β β One of the oldest pita restaurants in the city. The food is tasty and the service is quick and friendly.

β β β β β Not the most sophisticated place, nor the cleanest, but fair prices, very decent portions and steady quality (I've been there several times over a period of many years). Very friendly owners make you feel at ease and comfortable.
Definitely to be recommended!

β β β β β Antwerp does not have a lack of kebab/shoarma/pita/souvlaki/... shops anymore. My point is proven by the fact there are 3 other pita bars on the same square. However, as any Mediterranean, North-African or Middle-Eastern person will tell you, the difference in quality between all variants and indeed all shops can be huge.
Pita Waterpoort has always been a great place to get a pita and continues to be so. Even when sober, you'll appreciate the service, the quaint decor and warm hospitality, all unchanged after the retirement of the original owner. The pita bread is soft and tasty, while the meat is just right.
When drunk, you'll feel like you're eating in heaven. Either way, if you crave a pita while in Antwerp, Waterpoort is a good place to be. It's also located near the Museum of Fine Arts, so you can pretend to your mates that you didn't go eat a Pita while drunk at 2AM, but rather went to appreciate some high culture.

β β β β β Regular pita place with just that little bit extra. Meat seems of a higher quality, you get a platter of it seems like home made sauces brought to your table so you can choose one of your liking. Afterwards you can enjoy a cup of hot apple tea. Finding a parking spot might be difficult at some times.
