Beautiful collection. I recommend taking your time and getting to know the story of the paintings, even though there's a big section of religious works that might not be immediately interesting to you- a lot of them have hidden quirks and neat back stories.

The museum where Rubans is king. They’ve dedicated one wing to the master. Not busy like some world class museums and just enough to keep you busy for a good hour. Beautiful exterior and cavernous interior.

Musée Oldmasters (Old Masters) is a member of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium and a good place to view Flemish masterpieces from the 15th to 18th centuries. Museum opening hours 10am to 5pm (Tues-Fri), 11am to 8pm (Sat-Sun) and closed on Mondays. Entrance fee is €8 per person. Alternatively, you can purchase a museum combo for €13 which provides entrance into the End of Century and Magritte Museums as well. This museum was started by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1801 and features Flemish masterpieces by the likes of Rogier van der Weyden, Memling and Hieronymus Bosch. There is an impressive holding of works by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, second in number only to the Kunsthistorisches in Vienna. Works by Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck, Rembrandt and Jordaen's amongst other Netherlandish Old Masters can also be viewed. Within the collection, we most enjoyed seeing Brueghel's 'Fall of the Rebel Angels' as well as the Bosch Triptych of the temptation of St. Anthony. In the end, we enjoyed our two hours browsing the Old Masters collection and would happily return to the Musees Royaux Des Beaux-Arts to see the Old Master's section of the museum complex again. If you enjoy fine art, give yourself a couple hours or more here to enjoy the Flemish works available to be seen. Note: The combo ticket is only good for a single day so make sure you reserve enough time to adequately visit the End of Century and Magritte Museums as well.

The Old Masters museum is a part of the Royal art museums in Brussels and is a must see if you are an art lover. The gallery is on the top floor and there is plenty of light to do the paintings justice. Most of the paintings are from European artists between the 15th to the 18th centuries. Just below the gallery is the cafe, bar and restaurant so there is no need to leave the museum for food or drinks. The museum shop has prints and memorabilia from most of the artists

If you like the old masters then it's a must. There are some beautiful pieces here. There are two other museums that share the building. I came here specifically to see the death of Marat, but enjoyed the other pieces. I definitely recommend the audio tour guide, which is a few extra euros. The paintings do not have a lot of information posted, so the audio tour guide is an informative extra. The dude at admissions did not offer the audio guide, I had to ask whether one was available. The gift shop is kind of hidden, but there is one with a variety of items to commemorate the visit. You can take photographs of the works, but you cannot use a flash.

Bruegel’s “Fallen Angels” is stunning. Some Flemish portraits and still lifes were also my favourites. Beautiful building.

This museum is a must see! A gorgeous old building filled to the brim with artworks from the "old masters", think Rubens, Breugel, Rembrandt, Bosch, and more. The audio guide could be more extensive, they leave out a lot of paintings, but the ones that are covered have in depth descriptions with a bit of history and interesting tidbits. Absolutely loved this museum, so much gorgeous work on display!
