★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one of the iconic EU buildings, the headquarters of the European Commission. People take selfies in front of the signage and you often find camera crews in front of the "line of flags" out front. There are plenty of places to eat and drink all around as well as a metro station and taxi rank.
There is an open day once per year when you can go inside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very large, modern office building. Quite nice to look at, but all the same, just an office building with some other office buildings around it. If you're looking for the heart of the EU, you've found it - a bunch of people at desks.

The adjacent Schuman roundabout not only provides a wonderful view of this key symbol of European decision-making in Brussels, but also on the brand-new Europa building, headquarters of the European Council and the Council of the European Union.
The building owes its name to the Dames du Berlaymont (Sisters of the Berlaymont) convent
