★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Broken bottles around, but ok in rest. This is a tower, with initials of the tower constructor near the entrance, gate closed with lock. Great spot to make some photos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This cute little mini tower in Parc du Cinquantenaire was built in 1880 for the National Exhibition of Products of Belgian Industry and specifically created to show off the properties and advantages of Tournai stone as a building material. The tower is built is a Neo-Gothic style of a fortification tower complete with mini machicolation and four equally mini watchtowers. Unfortunately, the tower is currently under renovation and completely covered in scaffolding, a bit ironic really.
Luckily, I’d seen this tower before on a previous visit to Brussels and it’s a bit of a pastiche, but fun. I would not recommend visiting unless you’re already visiting the park or until the renovations are complete.
