World Art Nouveau architecture end 19th century by Victor Horta - very exceptionally to be visited only in an organized context

Visited during BANAD. The tour was quick and we didn't get to see the all building. I think there were other groups that visited the upper floors, but or guide took us to the cellar instead. The house is iconic and so much more than the pictures in an art history book. The feeling of light, openness and the richness of the materials are impressive. The somehow theatrical main facade does not show what the interior is, which is an interesting approach. It's not easy to get to go to this place, and the visit itself was not exactly what I was expecting, but still worth it...

I went to Hotel Tassele BANAD 2018 festival. It was restriction to take photos inside, so I could not take pictures. You should definitely join the tours. Because this hotel is one of the artnouveu icons. It is possible to see details of the architect Victor horta in harmony everywhere. The wall paintings and mosaic patterns inspired by music are very impressive. Hôtel Tassel is now used as a private office.

This building was designed by Victor Horta and is considered the first true archetype of the then new Art Nouveau November. Sadly, the Hôtel Tassel is currently a private office and inaccessible to the public, so you can only admire it from the outside. The building is a UNESCO listed site along with Hôtel Solvay, Hôtel van EetveldeMaison and Atelier Horta, and historically important for architecture and Art Nouveau. So, although it's well off the tourist circuit, it's worth a look of you have extra time in Brussels.
