Schitterende omgeving !
Beautiful b & b in the vicinity of the Sixtus abbey of West-Vleteren. Not overnight, but walked past during 'silent walk'. Very authentically developed and very friendly hostess. Beautiful environment!

β β β β β Beer fans... See below. - Overall A truly wonderful experience. We found this B&B on Google maps while searching for accommodation in the area of Sint-Sixtus Abbey / In De Vrede Cafe, as we wanted to buy / try the famous Westvleteren beers. The price is truly a great deal for what was included. The room and house was beautiful, the bathtub with our room was big enough for two to comfortably relax in, and the scenery of the place is incredible. The host was very friendly, knowledgable, and spoke very good english. The breakfast in the morning was awesome, most of which (Jams, Juice, Vitamin-shot, etc. is prepared from scratch by the host herself using ingredients from the beautiful garden surrounding the house.) See below the many photos of this incredible place I took. If I am ever in my life back in this region of Belgium (which I'm fairly sure I will be) I will definitely stay here again!
For the beer fans: This B&B is 800m from the famous Sint-Sixtus Abbey where Westvleteren is brewed, A 10 minute walk through beautiful surrounding nature brings you to In De Vrede, the cafe where you can try and buy the beers and food from the monastery. The host has a selection of other local beers in a fridge as well, waiting for you when you arrive! She was also extremely knowledgable about the area and different must see spots for beer lovers - she recommended us to do a tour of the St. Bernardus Brewery about 10 minute drive from the B&B and it ended up being a highlight of our trip (Pro-tip: The St. Bernardus tour costs 12.50euro, includes a 90 minute tour, two beer tastings and a free gift set consisting of 4 bottled beers and a glass, all for the price of the tour. Probably the best brewery tour deal you can find in Belgium. Not to mention... St. Bernardus used to brew the consumer version of Westvleteren 12 before rules for Trappist breweries changed, so it fits right into the history of beer in this region.) This B&B is also the "Pahilleke Farms" mentioned on In De Vredes own website that produces jams, spreads, etc. that the cafe sells in their shop. The host also had great recommendations for restaurants that focus on beer and food pairing in the area, etc. Really an awesome place and experience for anyone wanting to stay in Westvleteren for the beer history and experience there, and the host was a great source of useful "beer-tourist" information that I hadn't previously found anywhere else.
