★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In de Landergemstraat willen we het vroegere soldatenkerkhof omvormen tot een vredespark en een herdenkingsheuvel voor alles wat met oorlog en vrede te maken heeft. Gisteren was het acht mei, Bevrijdingsdag, en dat vonden we het ideale moment om deze herdenkingsheuvel officieel te openen.
Vandaag staat er nu al een zitbank en een kunstwerk van Gerda Vanlaeke, maar het is de bedoeling om in de toekomst nog tal van zaken aan te pakken, zodat deze heuvel een voorbeeldproject wordt waar “Oorlog en Vrede” centraal staan.
In the Landergemstraat we want to transform the former soldier's cemetery into a peace park and a memorial hill for everything that has to do with war and peace. Yesterday it was May 8, Liberation Day, and we thought that was the ideal moment to officially open this memorial hill.
Today there is already a sofa and a work of art by Gerda Vanlaeke, but the intention is to tackle many more issues in the future, so that this hill becomes an example project where “War and Peace” are central.
