About Green Garage
To offet our carbon emissions we’ve decided to support the SAVINGS TREES PROJECT in Uganda so that 300+ families receive an efficient woodstove.
Each stove helps reduce wood and charcoal consumption by up 40% compared to other cooking methods and can save US $75 per year per family.
Each woodstove contributes to reducing 1.4tonnes of CO2 per year – the equivalent of a return journey for one person from Antwerp to Washington D.C.
The woodstoves also create a reduction in the emission of harmful pollutants that frequently cause respiratory illnesses such as Pneumonia for children and women in Africa. UNICEF estimates that 2 million children died by pneumonia every year. Pneumonia is the single largest cause of child death and reducing indoor air pollution is one of the key prevention measures.
These woodstoves will also help reduce local air pollution and thus reduce the impact of smoke on African children whilst allowing for BREW “CO2 Neutrality”.

The coffee is quite good but unfortunately they only serve Italian style coffee, no V60, although they sell the V60 gear for you to make at home? ****
I also tried their flatbread burrata, the ingredients in of themselves are high quality and fresh but I found that the burrata was eclipsed by the strong flavours of the sun-dried tomatoes and vinaigrette. ***

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place (cold though) and good food. That's what one star is for. The second one is for the friendly young lady who works there. Service is very slow (have been there several times). Last time we had to wait 45 minutes. When going to the bar and asking carefully if they had perhaps forgotten us, this older lady started shouting at us, asking if we didn't notice that the place was full and saying that they did prepare everything fresh which requires time. She added that we could go if we thought it took too long... She could have just explained this in a friendly and calm way and no harm would have been done. Her fury was tempered by the super-friendly young lady who apologised for her. Anyway, even though we like the place, we don't feel like going there anymore. There are other places where people don't start shouting at you on your day off.
