Get a breath of fresh air and greet people from all over Europe, take a walk along the water and bunkers from the Second World War

Very nice to have a look. You can see a lot. Park nearby or come by bike. Boats make quite a big difference in height here which I personally don't see often. There are many people watching on a sunny day. On the edge you can (I think) also see parts of Fort Eben Emael, which is also very nice to visit if you are in the area.

It’s amazing to watch the whole process of “lifting down” four huge river vessels. It makes one think that humans are able to create absolutely magnificent structures.

Amazing piece of work. Great location to see the split of the Maas/Meuse between Belgium, to Antwerp, and Netherlands, to Maastricht and eventually Zeeland. The elevation drop is 13 m and shows well how low the Netherlands are. It's fantastic to see power of the the locks emptying and refilling. 200m long x 13m deep x 25m wide must make a lot of Olympics swimming pools :)
