★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dinant is een van de bekendste steden in de Ardennen. De stad is gelegen aan de oevers van de Maas en als sinds de middeleeuwen bewoond. Door de gunstige beschutte ligging aan de voet van de steile rotswand en de goed bevaarbare rivier werd Dinant al snel een belangrijk handelscentrum in de regio. Dinant is een kleine stad. Door dat de stad is ingeklemd tussen rots en rivier heeft de stad een wat langgerekt karakter en is de stad ook niet zo groot. Het centrum is vrij beperkt met enkele kleine winkels. Door de bewogen geschiedenis en de schade die dit heeft aangericht is er in Dinant weinig meer over van zijn oude middeleeuwse geschiedenis. De huizen zijn redelijk modern. Alleen aan de smalle straatjes valt het oude patroon nog af te lezen. De belangrijkste attracties in Dinant zijn de citadel, de rondvaartboten en het huis van Adolph Sax. Dinant is niet echt een hele levendige stad, maar kent wel enkele charmes voor de liefhebber.

Due to its favorable sheltered location at the foot of the steep rock face and the easily navigable river, Dinant quickly became an important trade center in the region. Dinant is a small town. Because the city is wedged between rock and river, the city has a somewhat elongated character and the city is also not that big. The center is quite limited with some small shops. Due to the eventful history and the damage this has caused, little of its old medieval history is left in Dinant. The houses are fairly modern. The old pattern can only be read on the narrow streets. The main attractions in Dinant are the citadel, the tour boats and the house of Adolph Sax. Dinant is not really a very lively city, but it does have some charms for the enthusiast.
