J	Jan Torfs on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Prachtig en majestueus stadhuis met mooie trappen en ontvangsthal. Dit stadhuis past perfect bij de Grote Markt die eveneens indruk maakt. Het vroegere stadhuis werd gebouwd in 1663 en is nu het parochiehuis loodrecht tegenover het huidige stadhuis. Dit laatste werd gebouwd in 1841 maar een brand richtte een enorme schade aan een dertigtal jaren later. Het werd terug opgebouwd in neogotische stijl en met een belforttoren. Vanaf 1876 werd het in gebruik genomen met zijn huidige uitzicht. Sedert 1981 werd het erkend als beschermd monument . Beautiful and majestic town hall with beautiful staircases and lobby. This town hall fits perfectly with the Grote Markt, which also impresses. The former town hall was built in 1663 and is now the parish hall perpendicular to the current town hall. The latter was built in 1841 but a fire caused enormous damage some thirty years later. It was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style and with a belfry tower. From 1876 it was put into use with its present appearance. It has been recognized as a protected monument since 1981 .
J	J R. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fraai stadhuis! Prachtige locatie om te trouwen! Zo jammer dat het mooie beeld van Sint Niklaas voor de deur door vandalen beschadigd is! Beautiful town hall! Beautiful location to get married! Such a shame that the beautiful statue of Saint Nicholas in front of the door has been damaged by vandals!

Grote Markt hosts one of the biggest hot air balloon festivals in September, and balloons fly regularly from the Grote Markt.
