I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone, especially healthcare professionals, involved in the ongoing efforts to fight the global spread of COVID-19, even as we face the emergence of new variant strains.

In the Chinese calendar, 2022 is the year of mizunoe tora (壬寅), which can be translated as "black water tiger." Mizunoe is the ninth jikkan (cycle of ten calendar signs), which inspires us to kindle a positive inner warmth after enduring a long and cold winter, and tora is the third junishi (cycle of twelve animals), which gives us an internal feeling of the impending birth of spring. So as we enter 2022, we look forward to a bright future, even though the business environment in the healthcare industry continues to remain rather uncertain.

The new rugby football league Japan Rugby League One will be launched on January 7, taking the place of the former Japan Rugby Top League. Our rugby football team, the Yokohama Canon Eagles, will be joining this new league. Under a new organizational structure, the league will promote Japanese rugby football to help it reach a true world-class level.
The World Rugby Playing Charter embraces five core values as the defining characteristics of rugby: integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline, and respect. To be truly passionate and united and to play under shared rules with mutual respect are the cherished values of our team, and these values are equally applicable to all our endeavors.
The Yokohama Canon Eagles will be playing 16 games this year in Japan Rugby League One while wearing uniforms with the logo of our Aquilion CT system on the back.^* The name "Aquilion" is derived from the Latin word for eagle, "aquila" (the king of the sky), combined with "lion" (the king of the land), which is meant to suggest a potent combination of two strong entities (medical professionals and the members of our company) working together to overcome the challenges facing global healthcare. Whenever you see our rugby football team wearing their uniforms bearing the Aquilion logo, I hope you will be reminded of the deeply held values that the logo represents.
