Spijtig. En... schandalig.
Here too, the coffee is warm water in which 1 coffee bean has been able to bathe for 20 seconds. avoid. Why is it so hard to find a good cup of coffee in shops... and it hasn't been since the corona... the problem has been around for a long time. Regrettable. And... outrageous.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bediening was ok. Obers ook zeer stijlvol gekleed. De prijzen zijn echter schandalig duur. €17 voor 2 garnaalkroketten. Punt. Echt niks van groentjes ofzo. Wel nog frietjes erbij die nog letterlijk dropen in het vet. Degoutant. De tafeltjes staan ook ongelofelijk dicht op elkaar. En dat in Corona-tijden!! Echt niet ok...
Service was ok. Waiters also very stylishly dressed. However, the prices are outrageously expensive. €17 for 2 shrimp croquettes. Point. Not really green or anything. There are still fries that literally dripped in the fat. disgusting. The tables are also incredibly close together. And that in Corona times!! Really not okay...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rebuilt in the late twenties of the last century, after having been totally destroyed during WW I, the Gambrinus has an amazing interior that already was part of its original location at the other side of the square. The actual tenants are the third and fourth generation of the Van Mechelen family that rebuilt the both houses forming the cafe.
The atmosphere is one of a kind, especially in winter time with its angelic paintings and its comfortable "boxes" which allows for some privacy.
In the summer, actually the whole year long, ask for a "café glacé", the homemade coffee flavoured ice cream.
Enjoy the view over Saint Peter's church from the terrace while having Leuven's best Stella served in a classical straight glass.
Gambrinus, the best place to have a drink in Leuven.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst coffee ever. Wauw. And that for 4.5€
I am usually very positive about the places I visit. It showed potential because the restaurant looks good and cosy. The staff looks fancy but they are not pro active. The menu is small and expensive, everything besides the soup of the day, everything is 16€
