C'est une bibliothèque doublée d'un Institut de recherche spécialisé en dans la pensée de saint Augustin, sa spiritualité, ses œuvres et son influence sur l'histoire du monde, etc.
Une attention similaire est aussi accordée à l'histoire de l'Ordre d'Augustin (OSA).
La bibliothèque contient beaucoup d'ouvrages en français surtout, mais aussi en anglais et en néerlandais sur Augustin et les pères de l'église. Ainsi que de nombreuses revues spécialisées.
Elle édicte elle aussi une revue: Augustiniana.
 The Augustinian historical institute (“Augustijns Historisch Instituut”), is located in Heverlee at the saint of the convent of the Augustinian fathers. It is a library coupled with a research institute specializing in the thought of Saint Augustine, his spirituality, his works and his influence on the history of the world, etc.
Similar attention is also given to the history of the Order of Augustine (OSA).
