Abdij Postel - Abdijlaan

Wij zijn kloosterlingen, meer bepaald reguliere kanunniken, volgelingen van de heilige Norbertus
(+ 1134). Naar hem worden wij ‘norbertijnen’ genoemd. De heilige Norbertus stichtte meerdere abdijen, o.a. Prémontré (1120) en Floreffe (1122). Prémontré werd de voornaamste abdij van de orde. Daarom worden wij ook ‘premonstratenzers’ genoemd of reguliere kanunniken van Prémontré. Al deze abdijen, waaruit de norbertijnenorde of orde van Prémontré ontstond, stichtten op hun beurt andere abdijen en kloosters. Zo stichtte de abdij van Floreffe ons klooster in 1140.
Voor zijn kloosters koos de heilige Norbertus de regel van Augustinus. Nog steeds leven wij volgens deze regel, waarin wij opgeroepen worden om eensgezind samen te wonen, “één van hart en één van ziel op weg naar God” (I,2).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A historical place. Ancient buildings with small church which is open for a visit. Monks living in harmony in the monastery. A garden with many kind of herbs is belonging to the compound. Own production and selling products of this garden. Also a possibility to stay in a separate part of the monastery with monk's to think about spiritual life. A restaurant and chop, selling monastery bread, cheese religious subjects is located at the compound as well. Very relaxed area also for biking. Have a look by yourselves

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have cycled to Postel Monastery today from Eindhoven. It was a challenging trip (for me) but when I arrived here I felt it was completely worth it. The monastery is really beautiful and peaceful. There are nice restaurants with huge terraces around it so you can enjoy the beer and food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A must to visit place. My experience was very good and I really liked walking around with my family and seeing the historical buildings. A few nice restaurants and eat out near by and with free parking and long nature walking paths, you can spend a nice half a day at this place.
